SEEK’s AI Lead Highlights Trust-Building Through Responsible AI at Global Talent Summit Amid Noisy Recruitment Landscape
HONG KONG SAR – On March 18, 2026, Mr. Grant Wright, Group Executive of Artificial Intelligence at SEEK, addressed the “Global Talent Summit Week – Hong Kong’s International Talent Forum,” organized by the Labour and Welfare Bureau and Hong Kong Talent Engage. His participation in the panel titled “Thriving in a Dynamic Talent Landscape – Sustaining Skills and Fostering Resilience” underscored the challenges posed by an increasingly complex recruitment market. Mr. Wright emphasized the importance of leveraging SEEK’s responsible AI framework and automated verification tools to assist employers in identifying genuine talent signals.
The Noisy Recruitment Landscape
During the forum, Mr. Wright characterized the global talent landscape as “noisy,” primarily due to the proliferation of AI agents and large language models in recruitment processes. This technological evolution complicates the assessment of candidates’ fit and motivation without appropriate tools.
“In a world where AI allows every candidate to put their best foot forward, traditional signals like the CV and cover letter tell us less than they used to,” Mr. Wright stated. He noted that merely applying for a role no longer reliably indicates a candidate’s motivation or suitability. In this noisy AI environment, recruitment marketplaces play a crucial role in connecting high-fit candidates with employers swiftly while enhancing trust in the hiring process.
Building Trust with Responsible AI
SEEK established a dedicated Responsible AI team in 2017 to tackle issues of fairness and bias in AI-driven matching. Mr. Wright outlined the company’s core principles aimed at ensuring technology empowers rather than excludes.
“AI makes predictions, which means by definition it can be wrong. We must consider the impact of those predictions on individuals,” he remarked. He further acknowledged the existence of human bias in recruitment, emphasizing the need to recognize biases present in both the system and the data used for training. The Responsible AI team and its processes are designed to ensure that AI improves outcomes for all stakeholders and creates opportunities.
SEEK has invested in AI for over a decade, establishing one of the most prominent AI teams in the Asia Pacific region. The company’s focus extends beyond simplifying job hunting and hiring; it aims to enhance trust and efficiency throughout the recruitment marketplace.
Technological Innovations in Recruitment
SEEK’s proprietary technology enhances every stage of the hiring process:
-
Enhanced Targeting for High-Fit Candidates: SEEK identifies candidates who are a strong fit for specific roles, predicting their likelihood of being shortlisted. High-fit candidates are three times more likely to be shortlisted compared to others.
-
Efficiency and Search Experience: AI-assisted ad writing tools help employers craft compelling job descriptions, while AI-powered analytics provide real-time insights to optimize ad performance. Candidates benefit from personalized search models that match them to the most relevant roles using natural language.
-
Responsible AI and Trust: SEEK’s Responsible AI framework emphasizes fairness, transparency, and bias mitigation in AI-driven matching. To build confidence and reduce market friction, SEEK has introduced automated verified credentials, cutting verification times from days to seconds. This innovation boosts hirer trust in the integrity of matches and helps candidates stand out.
-
Voice AI Reference Checks: SEEK employs natural language AI to revolutionize the reference-checking process. The Voice AI assistant enables referees to complete checks through natural conversation, reducing completion time for hirers from 24 to 12 minutes while capturing more data than traditional methods.
Future Workforce Considerations
Mr. Wright also shared his vision for Hong Kong’s workforce over the next five years. He noted that while Hong Kong has a strong track record of attracting talent, the automation of entry-level tasks could jeopardize traditional learning curves.
“I would like to see Hong Kong focus on the development problem for the future workforce,” he stated. He cautioned that removing entry-level jobs eliminates the safe space for newcomers to “fail fast” and learn how organizations operate. Addressing this gap is crucial for the betterment of both organizations and future talent.
Celebrating Excellence in HR
Later that day, Jobsdb celebrated industry excellence at ‘The Hong Kong HR Awards 2025/26.’ The awards, themed ‘Empowering Talent and Technology Towards Tomorrow,’ recognized 70 companies for their outstanding talent acquisition and management strategies. Approximately 450 guests attended the ceremony, which highlighted the industry’s achievements in integrating technology with talent development.
Mr. Bill Lee, Managing Director of Jobsdb by SEEK, remarked, “Now in its fifth year, The Hong Kong HR Awards are once again dedicated to celebrating the exceptional organizations and visionary individuals who are reshaping the future of people strategy in Hong Kong.” He noted that this year’s winners exemplify how forward-thinking employers are transforming talent attraction, development, and engagement through the smart use of data and technology. The inaugural SEEK APAC Employer of the Year Award was also introduced, recognizing excellence across Asia and reinforcing Hong Kong’s role as a talent hub in the Asia Pacific.
