Seidor emphasizes ERP modernization for AI readiness amid UAE’s e-invoicing mandates

Published:

Seidor, a prominent SAP partner, is urging businesses in the UAE to rethink their approach to ERP modernization in light of the country’s new e-invoicing mandates. Ángel Fernández, CEO of Seidor Middle East, emphasized that organizations must prioritize clear business objectives and simplify their systems to fully leverage the potential of AI technologies. This call to action comes as companies face increasing pressure to comply with regulatory requirements while enhancing operational efficiency.

Fernández highlighted that many organizations mistakenly choose technology solutions before defining their business goals, which can lead to ineffective implementations. He noted that successful ERP modernization involves three distinct decisions: migration, simplification, and process redesign. “When you don’t decide, you end up with a technical move by default,” he stated, warning that this often results in missed opportunities for innovation and improvement.

Compliance and Digital Transformation

The push for compliance with e-invoicing regulations is a significant driver for ERP modernization in the UAE, following similar initiatives in Saudi Arabia. Fernández pointed out that this mandate compels companies to evaluate the cleanliness and connectivity of their ERP systems. He stated, “Compliance is the most immediate trigger right now,” underscoring the urgency for businesses to adapt their systems to meet these new requirements.

In addition to compliance, factors such as national digital agendas and the availability of local cloud services are reshaping the ERP landscape in the region. These developments are encouraging mid-sized companies to outgrow their existing systems more rapidly than anticipated, prompting a reevaluation of their technological capabilities.

Preparing for AI Integration

Fernández also discussed the importance of preparing the ERP core for AI integration. He argued that organizations that focus on establishing a clean core, with standardized processes and trusted data, will be better positioned to harness the full potential of AI technologies. “Most companies today use AI on top of their existing processes, which brings some efficiency, but without a prepared core, it delivers only a fraction of what it promises,” he explained.

To achieve this, he recommends that CIOs secure board support for measurable business improvements and allocate budgets not just for technical migration but also for the necessary simplification and data management efforts. This strategic approach can help organizations realize quicker returns on their investments and justify further phases of modernization.

Future Plans and Market Focus

Looking ahead, Seidor aims to strengthen its presence in the Middle East, particularly in the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Kuwait. The company plans to expand its local teams and enhance its offerings in SAP Cloud ERP, SAP Business One, and analytics, targeting sectors such as retail, distribution, manufacturing, and services. Fernández stated, “We want to be the reference SAP partner for the mid-market in the region,” indicating a clear commitment to supporting growing businesses in their digital transformation journeys.

As organizations navigate the complexities of ERP modernization amid evolving regulatory landscapes, Seidor’s insights serve as a timely reminder of the importance of aligning technology investments with strategic business goals.
