Key Findings from ‘The Voice of Kubernetes Experts Report 2024’ by Pure Storage and Dimensional Research

Pure Storage, a leading IT company known for its cutting-edge data storage technology, has partnered with Dimensional Research to release a comprehensive data report focusing on the fast-paced adoption of cloud-native platforms in the enterprise world.

Titled ‘The Voice of Kubernetes Experts Report 2024: The Data Trends Driving the Future of the Enterprise,’ this report delves into the key trends and priorities within the cloud-native landscape. It highlights the increasing usage of modern virtualization, cloud-native database, AI/ML adoption through Kubernetes, and the emergence of platform engineering practices.

The survey conducted by Pure Storage and Dimensional Research involved 527 experienced IT professionals managing data services in Kubernetes environments. The findings underscore some significant trends:

– 80% of respondents plan to build most of their new applications on cloud-native platforms in the next five years.
– 58% of organizations intend to migrate some VM workloads to Kubernetes.
– Nearly all respondents (98%) are running data-intensive workloads on cloud-native platforms, including databases, analytics, and AI/ML applications.
– Platform engineering teams are considered vital for the success of cloud-native initiatives, with 96% of respondents already having such teams in place.

These findings highlight the shift towards cloud-native platforms as businesses seek enhanced scalability, flexibility, and operational simplicity. The rise of Kubernetes as a key technology for modern applications, supporting data-intensive workloads crucial for enterprise innovation, underscores the importance of platform engineering in managing infrastructure for efficient application development and deployment within containerized environments.
