Tenable Study Shows 68% of Organisations Plan to Use GenAI to Enhance Security Measures and Align IT Objectives with the Business

Tenable, the Exposure Management company, has recently conducted a study that sheds light on the growing adoption of generative AI (GenAI) technology among organisations. The study, titled “How to Discover, Analyze and Respond to Threats Faster with Generative AI,” revealed that a significant 68% of organisations are planning to harness GenAI within the next 12 months to bolster their security measures and align IT objectives with broader business goals.

Despite the positive outlook towards GenAI adoption, the study also uncovered a concerning trend – only 17% of organisations demonstrate high confidence in effectively implementing GenAI technologies. This highlights the need for organisations to address challenges and barriers in the integration process.

The research, conducted by Forrester Consulting on behalf of Tenable, involved 826 IT and cybersecurity professionals from large enterprises across multiple countries. It emphasized the potential of GenAI to enhance security measures but also highlighted the complexity and risks associated with its implementation.

One of the key findings of the study is the perception of GenAI as a greater security threat than an opportunity among 41% of organisations. This apprehension is linked to cybersecurity risks and potential misuse of GenAI within organisations. Data quality and integrity also emerged as crucial factors for the success of GenAI initiatives, with 74% of respondents emphasizing the importance of reliable data for effective GenAI applications.

David Cummins, Senior VP of EMEA at Tenable, highlighted the significance of data governance and management in leveraging GenAI for improving security measures. He emphasized the need for organisations to base their decisions on reliable data to unlock the full potential of GenAI in identifying and addressing vulnerabilities across their attack surface.

As organisations continue to navigate the complexities of GenAI integration, it is crucial for them to prioritize data quality, security, and governance to maximize the benefits of this transformative technology.
