UAE Expands Work Bundle to Enhance Domestic Worker Services
The United Arab Emirates has recently expanded its unified government services platform, known as Work Bundle, by introducing a comprehensive suite of Domestic Worker Services. This initiative aims to streamline employment processes, making them more efficient while significantly reducing bureaucratic hurdles.
Digital Transformation of Domestic Worker Processes
Under the “Work in UAE” platform, users can now handle various residency-related processes for domestic workers—including issuing, renewing, and canceling residency visas, as well as arranging medical examinations. One of the notable features of this update is that all services are accessible through a unified digital interface, eliminating the need for in-person visits.
Customers can complete the entire residency application process by filling out a standardized electronic form. This includes uploading identification and passport details, digitally signing contracts, scheduling medical tests, receiving the results, and obtaining both Emirates IDs and residency visas—all online.
Supporting the Zero Government Bureaucracy Programme
This expansion is a collaborative effort led by the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE), in conjunction with several federal entities. It aligns perfectly with the UAE’s Zero Government Bureaucracy Programme, which aims to simplify processes, enhance the customer experience, and reinforce the country’s stance as a competitive, global hub for residency and employment.
Khalil Ibrahim Khoori, Undersecretary of Labour Market and Emiratisation Operations at MoHRE, emphasized the importance of inter-agency collaboration in launching this initiative. According to Khoori, “This initiative satisfies the requirements of the UAE’s Zero Government Bureaucracy Programme, in line with the vision and directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.”
Achievements in Digital Government
Khoori noted that the Work Bundle’s recent enhancements continue the success of earlier initiatives, such as the Domestic Worker Services available through the Invest in Dubai and DubaiNow portals. These steps affirm the UAE’s leadership in integrating digital government solutions and artificial intelligence.
Major General Suhail Saeed Al Khaili, Director-General of the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs, and Port Security, characterized the Work Bundle as a pioneering model for the integration and cooperation among government agencies. He stressed that this unified approach not only strengthens public service but also streamlines the customer journey, ensuring a fast, convenient, and secure allocation of services.
Improving Life Quality for Residents and Citizens
Al Khaili added that the introduction of Domestic Worker Services to the Work Bundle notably benefits a significant segment of UAE citizens and residents. This integration ensures that the rights of all parties involved are preserved while simultaneously cutting down on the number of channels and steps required for service access, thereby enhancing the overall quality of life.
The MoHRE has reported that the Work Bundle platform now delivers a unified and seamless user experience. This is achieved through a single application form and a shared payment system across multiple government entities, allowing users to enter data just once. This streamlining significantly reduces the paperwork and documentation typically required for residency applications.
Advanced Technologies Powering Seamless Service
The platform is backed by advanced data exchange and integration technologies, connecting with national digital infrastructure such as the Government Services Bus (GSB) and UAE PASS. This integration not only promotes proactive and secure service delivery but also centers the user experience, ensuring that services are conveniently available at residents’ fingertips.
As the UAE continues to innovate in digital governance, the expansion of the Work Bundle to include Domestic Worker Services is a clear indication of its commitment to enhancing the lives of both citizens and residents.
