VAST Data has partnered with UAE-based Hyperfusion to expedite the deployment of sovereign AI inference capabilities. This collaboration aims to integrate VAST’s AI Operating System into Hyperfusion’s Sentinel modular AI infrastructure, allowing organizations to bring AI inference online in weeks rather than the years typically required for traditional data center setups. The initiative addresses critical constraints such as power, cooling, and data center capacity, which have become significant bottlenecks in AI deployment.
The Sentinel system is designed as a transportable AI data center housed in a 45-foot ISO High Cube unit, featuring a reference configuration of 96 GPUs. This modular approach enables organizations to deploy AI infrastructure around existing power availability, thereby reducing the time and resources needed for large-scale data center construction. Haider Aziz, General Manager for the Middle East, Turkey, and Africa at VAST Data, emphasized that while access to GPUs is no longer the primary concern, the focus has shifted to ensuring adequate power and cooling solutions are in place.
Addressing Infrastructure Challenges
Aziz noted that customers must prepare their underlying power allocation, site readiness, and network requirements to facilitate rapid AI inference deployment. The partnership aims to eliminate traditional delays associated with building out data centers, allowing organizations to get operational sites online much faster. This is particularly relevant for sectors where data sensitivity and latency are critical, such as government, energy, telecommunications, and critical infrastructure.
VAST’s AI Operating System will also enhance data sovereignty and confidential computing capabilities across Sentinel deployments. This includes support for fully air-gapped environments, enabling organizations to maintain control over their data, models, and inference processes without relying on external cloud connectivity. The collaboration is currently in the technical validation phase, focusing on integration, performance, and operational requirements.
Future Implications for AI Infrastructure
The partnership is poised to redefine how AI infrastructure is deployed, emphasizing the importance of placing inference capabilities closer to data sources and users. This approach not only improves responsiveness but also optimizes the use of distributed power capacity. The companies are working towards a common control plane that will simplify operations across multiple sites, allowing for more efficient management of distributed deployments.
As organizations increasingly seek to leverage advanced AI technologies without compromising data control, the VAST and Hyperfusion partnership represents a significant step forward in addressing the challenges of modern AI infrastructure. The focus on modular, sovereign AI solutions is expected to resonate strongly within the UAE and the broader Middle East region, where data sensitivity and operational efficiency are paramount.
