Verizon Outage Impacts Thousands Across Western US, FCC Launches Investigation

Verizon customers across the western half of the United States were left frustrated on Monday morning as a widespread mobile service outage impacted tens of thousands of users. The outage, which lasted for approximately ten hours, left users without mobile service well into the late afternoon.

Verizon finally announced that the network disruption had been fully restored, urging any remaining users experiencing issues to restart their devices. The mobile carrier apologized for the inconvenience caused and thanked customers for their patience during the outage.

Reports of service issues began pouring in around 9:30 a.m. Eastern Time, with users in major cities such as Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Phoenix, and Chicago reporting problems with their Verizon service. The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) launched an investigation into the outage as complaints continued to flood in.

At its peak, over 100,000 users had reported issues with Verizon wireless service, with many experiencing a complete blackout or loss of signal. Social media was flooded with complaints from frustrated users, with some describing their phones being stuck in “SOS” mode.

While Verizon has not provided specific details on the cause of the disruption, the company is currently facing challenges in restoring services following the impact of Hurricane Helene, which recently hit several states in the Southeastern United States. Despite the challenges, Verizon assured customers that efforts were underway to address the outage and restore service to affected users.
