Katie Lynch Opens Up About Dangers of £70-a-Week Prescription Drug

Katie Lynch, a 35-year-old woman from Birmingham, has bravely shared her story of addiction to a dangerous prescription drug that nearly cost her life. After being prescribed diazepam for borderline personality disorder, Katie spiraled into a £70-a-week addiction to a potent drug that is banned in the UK.

Her addiction to Xanax, purchased from the Dark Web, led to two major overdoses that left her parents fearing for her life. Miraculously, Katie survived and managed to completely come off the drugs four months ago. She has since turned her life around and is now training for a fundraising boxing match to raise awareness and funds for mental health charity MIND.

Katie warns of the dangers of self-medicating with prescription drugs, especially for teenagers who may be buying diazepam on the streets. She emphasizes the importance of a healthy lifestyle, including a balanced diet, regular exercise, and meditation, in stabilizing mental health.

Reflecting on her harrowing experience, Katie recalls the excruciating withdrawal symptoms she endured while trying to come off the medication. She credits the Oleaster crisis team for saving her life and helping her through the difficult process.

Despite the challenges she faced, Katie is determined to raise awareness about the dangers of prescription drug addiction and continue her journey towards recovery. Her upcoming boxing match is not only a personal challenge but also a way to support others who may be struggling with similar issues.
