Elon Musk’s X (formerly Twitter) Gifts Premium Features to Influential Users

X, formerly known as Twitter, is making waves in the social media world by gifting premium features to users with at least 2,500 verified followers. This move comes after Elon Musk’s announcement at the end of March, where he shared plans to offer exclusive perks to popular accounts.

On Wednesday evening, many accounts were surprised to find that they had been granted premium subscriptions, complete with the coveted blue badge. These features, including reduced ads and higher visibility in replies, are aimed at keeping influential users engaged on the platform.

Musk’s strategy seems to be a response to Meta’s Threads app, which is gaining traction and threatening X’s dominance. By offering free premium features to high-profile accounts, Musk hopes to attract and retain users amidst growing competition.

However, there seems to be some confusion about the criteria for receiving these perks. Only a handful of accounts currently meet the threshold of 2,500 verified followers, raising questions about the implementation of Musk’s plan.

Despite the initial controversy surrounding the removal of verification badges from non-paying subscribers, X is now making efforts to keep its user base engaged and satisfied. With Meta’s Threads app offering cash bonuses for engaging content, the competition in the social media landscape is heating up.

As the battle for user attention intensifies, it remains to be seen how X’s latest move will impact its standing in the market. Will these premium features be enough to keep users loyal, or will competitors continue to gain ground? Only time will tell.
