Check Point Research Releases Q2 2024 Brand Phishing Ranking: Microsoft Tops List

Check Point Research (CPR) has released its latest Brand Phishing Ranking for Q2 2024, revealing the brands most frequently imitated by cybercriminals in phishing attacks. Microsoft maintained its top spot as the most imitated brand, accounting for 57% of all attempts, while Apple jumped to second place with 10%. LinkedIn held onto its third position with 7% of attempts. New entries to the top 10 list included Adidas, WhatsApp, and Instagram.

The Technology sector remained the most impersonated industry in brand phishing, followed by Social Networks and Banking. Omer Dembinsky, Data Group Manager at Check Point Software, emphasized the persistent threat of phishing attacks and advised users to verify sender email addresses, avoid clicking on unsolicited links, and enable multi-factor authentication on their accounts.

In the last quarter, Check Point Research observed several phishing campaigns targeting users by impersonating Adidas brand websites. Fraudulent sites like adidasyeezys[.]cz and adidasyeezys[.]it mimic the appearance of authentic Adidas sites to deceive victims into entering their credentials and personal information. Similarly, Instagram has seen a rise in phishing campaigns, with tactics aimed at tricking users into divulging their login credentials through fake login interfaces.

As phishing attacks continue to pose a significant threat to individuals and organizations, it is crucial for users to remain vigilant and take necessary precautions to protect their personal information and financial data. Stay informed and stay safe online.
