Dates for the 2025 Eid Al Adha Holidays Across the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC)

The dates for the 2025 Eid Al Adha holidays have recently been released, providing important information for residents of Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Oman, Bahrain, Kuwait, and Qatar. This significant period, also known as the Feast of Sacrifice, is marked by deep religious observances including special prayers, festive meals, and acts of charity.

Holiday Schedule in the United Arab Emirates

In the UAE, the government has officially confirmed the Eid Al Adha holiday for both public and private sectors. The holidays will begin on Thursday, June 5, 2025, commemorating Dhul Al-Hijjah 9, 1446 AH, and will continue until Sunday, June 8, 2025, marking Dhul Al-Hijjah 12, 1446 AH. Employees will return to work on Monday, June 9, 2025. This extended break allows families to celebrate together, making it a time of joy and reflection.

Saudi Arabia’s Eid Al Adha Holiday Announcement

In Saudi Arabia, similar arrangements have been made to celebrate Eid Al Adha. According to the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development, private and non-profit sector employees will enjoy a four-day holiday. This holiday will commence with Arafah day on Thursday, June 5, 2025, followed by three days of Eid festivities, concluding on Sunday, June 8, 2025.

Bahrain’s Official Schedule for Eid Al Adha

Bahrain has released its holiday schedule as well. Crown Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa announced in a circular that the country’s ministries and public institutions will observe holidays from Thursday, June 5, 2025, through Sunday, June 8, 2025. Notably, since the official holiday coincides with a Friday and Saturday, compensatory days off will be granted on Monday and Tuesday, June 9-10, 2025.

Oman’s Extended Eid Al Adha Holiday

Oman is also preparing for an extended holiday period for Eid Al Adha. The Ministry of Labour has announced a five-day break for employees in both public and private sectors. The holiday starts on June 5, 2025, corresponding to Dhul Hijja 9, 1446 AH, and lasts until Monday, June 9, 2025. Work will resume on Tuesday, June 10, 2025. Employers may negotiate terms with employees regarding their work during this holiday if necessary, but adequate compensation is required.

Kuwait’s Eid Al Adha Holiday Dates

Kuwait has joined its GCC neighbors in announcing the holiday dates. During a recent Cabinet meeting, it was confirmed that all state bodies and public institutions will observe a break from Thursday, June 5, 2025, to Monday, June 9, 2025. Employees will return to work on Tuesday, June 10, 2025. The Cabinet also acknowledged that workplaces with “unconventional” hours will have the flexibility to determine their holiday periods.

Qatar’s Holiday Arrangements for Eid Al Adha

In Qatar, the Amiri Diwan has also announced the Eid holiday schedule. For ministries and public institutions, the holidays will occur from Thursday, June 5, 2025, to Monday, June 9, 2025. Employees will go back to work on Tuesday, June 10, 2025. However, for the Qatar Central Bank and other financial institutions, the start and end dates of the holiday will be determined by the Central Bank Governor.

Together, these announcements set the stage for a meaningful Eid Al Adha celebration across the GCC, bringing families closer and encouraging communal connections during one of the holiest periods in the Islamic calendar.
