Arrested Men Indicted for Running Cybercrime Forum WWH-Club: Details and Charges

Two men accused of running a cybercrime forum focused on credit card fraud have been officially indicted by the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Florida. Alex Khodyrev, a Kazakhstan national, and Pavel Kublitskii, a Russian national, face charges of conspiracy to commit access device fraud and wire fraud, with a maximum jail term of 20 years if convicted.

The FBI investigation revealed that Khodyrev and Kublitskii had been living in Miami while secretly administering the WWH-Club and other dark web marketplaces. These platforms facilitated the buying and selling of stolen personal information, credit card data, and malicious software. The accused allegedly played central roles in managing the infrastructure and guiding users in fraudulent activities.

Their lavish lifestyle, including luxury car purchases and cash spending sprees, caught the attention of law enforcement. The Internal Revenue Service flagged their financial activities, leading to the forfeiture of their sports cars believed to be bought with proceeds from cybercrime.

DigitalOcean, a cloud computing provider, played a crucial role in the investigation by providing data on WWH-Club’s operations. Despite the arrests, the forum remains operational, but Khodyrev and Kublitskii face serious charges that could result in a 10-year prison sentence for each offense.

The case highlights the ongoing fight against cybercrime, with law enforcement agencies targeting individuals involved in operating and profiting from dark web marketplaces. The indictment of these alleged cybercriminals marks a significant step in combating illegal online activities.
