Strengthening Security Through Collaboration
This past May, the Professional Security and Safety Alliance (PSSA) teamed up with the Security Industry Regulatory Agency (SIRA) to take part in the World Police Summit at the Dubai World Trade Centre. This notable event, held from May 13-15, 2025, united professionals from the fields of policing, law enforcement, government, and private security, drawing representatives from over 110 countries.
The summit provided a significant platform for PSSA to articulate its vision and connect with global security experts. Established to facilitate networking, knowledge-sharing, and mutual support among private security professionals, PSSA operates as a voluntary collective proudly backed by SIRA, which oversees the regulation of the private security sector in Dubai.
“Participating as an exhibitor at the World Police Summit in Dubai was an incredible honor. It was inspiring to see a diverse range of professionals converge in one location. I was proud to represent PSSA and highlight our mission,” commented Liz Jajal, a representative of PSSA.
A focal point of interest during the summit was the emphasis on training and education within the private security sphere. Attendees, including those from law enforcement and private enterprises, were eager to learn about the training and certification protocols for private security personnel in the UAE. This dialogue opened up vital discussions regarding professional development, compliance with UAE regulations, and the importance of proper certification.
A critical takeaway from these discussions was the clear legal framework that governs private security professionals in the UAE. Unlike law enforcement officers, private security staff are required to operate within specific legal boundaries. This makes regular, high-quality training essential. Security personnel need to be well-versed in the law, understand their designated responsibilities, and react appropriately within their legal scope.
Another noteworthy accomplishment during the summit was the strengthening of the partnership between PSSA and Security Middle East Magazine. Earlier this year, at Intersec 2025, both organizations signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at fostering a long-term collaboration. This partnership is focused on raising awareness, enhancing training, and elevating industry standards within the security sector.
The presence of Security Middle East at the summit amplified discussions surrounding security innovation, professionalism, and the future of collaboration between public and private sectors. By combining PSSA’s hands-on experience with Security Middle East’s robust communication channels, both entities are actively working to promote better practices and foster stronger relationships within the security community.
This partnership has drawn considerable interest from stakeholders and collaborators eager to witness a more cohesive and skilled private security sector. Together, PSSA and Security Middle East are streamlining access to vital information, training opportunities, and networking connections to facilitate professional growth and success.
The World Police Summit marked not only a significant moment for PSSA but also served as a crucial step toward enhanced collaboration within the industry. It underscored the importance of partnerships, proper training, and shared knowledge in maintaining safety in our communities and workplaces.
PSSA is committed to continuing its mission—raising awareness, nurturing stronger partnerships, and enhancing the quality of the private security industry, both in the UAE and beyond.
