Namibia to Host Its 8th International Energy Conference in 2026

RichAfrica Consultancy is excited to announce the return of the Namibia International Energy Conference (NIEC) to Windhoek for its 8th installment, scheduled for April 14-16, 2026. Building on its previous successes, this conference will play a vital role in shaping Namibia’s energy landscape as the nation aims for first oil production by 2029.

Government and Industry Support

Supported by the Government of Namibia and the African Energy Chamber, NIEC 2026 serves as a crucial platform for international companies to engage with their Namibian counterparts. This year’s event focuses on facilitating partnerships, signing contracts, and promoting the country’s energy ambitions. The participation of prominent local financial institutions, such as Standard Bank Namibia and Rand Merchant Bank as Sapphire Sponsors, highlights a collective confidence in Namibia’s energy sector and the economic opportunities it presents.

Strategic Focus on Energy Growth and Sustainability

As the energy sector in Namibia continues to flourish, exciting developments are underway. Companies like Rhino Resources have made significant discoveries with the Voltans-1X project, while Galp Energia is actively seeking partners to develop its Mopane field. Additionally, TotalEnergies is on track to announce a final investment decision for its Venus project in 2026. Amidst this growth, Namibia is prioritizing its clean energy agenda, with initiatives focused on green hydrogen, solar power, and sustainable development.

A Platform for High-Level Dialogue

Since its inception in 2012, under the theme “The Road to Discovery & Beyond,” NIEC has evolved into Namibia’s premier platform for constructive dialogue, strategic alliances, and industry collaboration. The conference attracts government representatives, global investors, and business leaders, contributing significantly to Namibia’s energy advancements and its pursuit of first oil, while laying the groundwork for a diversified and resilient energy future.

Who Will Attend in 2026?

The 2026 edition promises to bring together key stakeholders, including senior government figures, investors, operators, service providers, financial institutions, academic leaders, innovators, and representatives of civil society. Topics of discussion will span oil and gas, renewable energy, nuclear power, and electricity generation. Essential focus areas include recent industry developments, local value creation, human capital development, and ensuring the active participation of local service providers. The conference will also address vital issues such as energy security and supply chain resilience, ensuring a holistic approach to Namibia’s energy future.

Engagement and Programming

The program is carefully curated to include plenary sessions, panel discussions, technical workshops, B2B matchmaking opportunities, networking events, and an interactive exhibition showcasing cutting-edge technologies and investment-ready projects. NIEC 2026 offers multiple avenues for sponsorship, speaking opportunities, and exhibition participation, providing attendees valuable insights and connections to help shape the future landscape of Namibia’s energy sector.

A Catalyst for Collaboration and Innovation

Reflecting on the journey from its first theme, ‘The Road to Discovery & Beyond,’ to its current focus on ‘The Road to First Oil & Beyond,’ Ndapwilapo Selma Shimutwikeni, CEO and Founder of RichAfrica Consultancy, emphasizes that NIEC represents more than just a conference. It acts as a pivotal moment for celebrating progress, confronting challenges, and unlocking new opportunities within the industry. This gathering will serve as a hub for fostering collaboration, investment, and innovation—foundations essential for a future that extends well beyond initial oil production.

A Growing Legacy

Over its 12 editions, NIEC has firmly established itself as a key leader in the energy sector. The conference has drawn over 2,500 participants from 46 countries, featured more than 410 speakers, and included representation from over 1,500 companies. Notably, the event highlights local vendor participation, reaching over 90%. Beyond the energy conversations, NIEC actively promotes tourism and bolsters the hospitality sector, enhancing Namibia’s reputation as an attractive business and travel destination.
